Signs You May Need Mold Remediation
Common Places We Find Mold in Middle Tennessee Homes
Mold Behind Drywall
A pipe leak, roof leak, overflowing fixture, or previous water-damage event can leave moisture inside a wall cavity. The front of the drywall may show only minor staining even when the back of the material or nearby insulation is affected.
Mold on Ceilings
Ceiling mold or staining may be connected to roof damage, plumbing from an upper floor, HVAC condensation, or moisture accumulating in an attic. The source should be located before cosmetic repairs are made.
Mold Under Flooring
Water can travel beneath hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, tile, and carpet. Flooring may feel dry on top while the underlayment or subfloor remains wet.
Basement Mold
Basement mold can be associated with foundation seepage, flooding, plumbing problems, poor drainage, elevated humidity, or unfinished materials absorbing moisture.
Bathroom and Kitchen Mold
Persistent mold may indicate inadequate ventilation, a leaking fixture, a supply-line leak, damaged grout, or moisture inside cabinets and walls.
Attic Mold
Roof leaks, insufficient ventilation, bathroom exhaust fans venting into an attic, or condensation can create conditions that support attic mold growth.
Mold Near HVAC Systems or Air Ducts
Condensation, wet insulation, drain-line problems, or an affected HVAC component may contribute to mold around the system. If the HVAC system itself is affected, it must be evaluated carefully so contaminants are not spread through the home. Mr. Restoration also provides NADCA-certified air-duct cleaning when appropriate as part of the restoration plan.
Crawl-Space Mold
Middle Tennessee’s humidity and prevalence of crawl-space foundations can lead to mold, fungal growth, condensation, damaged insulation, and moisture beneath the home. Link this paragraph to the dedicated Crawl Space Mold Remediation page.
What Should You Do When You Find Mold?
If you discover suspected mold, avoid disturbing the area, do not paint over it, and do not place a fan directly in front of it. Look for an active water source, keep children and sensitive occupants away, and contact a qualified mold-remediation company if the growth is extensive, hidden, recurring, or connected to significant water damage.
